Audrey E. Smith

Audrey E. Smith, age 86, of Pinckneyville, IL, died Friday, October 10, 2003, in St. Mary's Health Center, St. Louis, MO.

Audrey was born November 14, 1916, in Denmark, IL, the daughter of Enos L. and Ruth E. (Hallbauer) Bigham. She was a graduate of Pinckneyville Community High School. She married Michael Paul Smith on May 23, 1936 and he preceded her in death on June 8, 2002. Audrey enjoyed square dancing and golf and loved to watch girl's high school softball games. She also loved to cook and bake, and was known especially for her chocolate chip cookies. Audrey was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Pinckneyville, served on the Ladies' Auxiliary and was an officer of the Memorial Committee of the Church. Audrey was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include three sons: Jack L. Smith and wife Jean of Sparta, IL, Richard P. Smith and wife Judy of Lakewood, WA, and Michael C. Smith and wife Janelle of Atlanta, GA, one brother: Berthyl K. Bigham and wife Barbara of Filmore, CA, eight grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother: Erne L. Bigham

Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 14, 2003 from 5:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. and then again on Wednesday, October 15, 2003, from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Funeral Services were held in the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Tom Hobson officiating. Interment was in the Mueller Hill Cemetery.
